The Range is located at the bottom of the main hill, between the pool and the amphitheater. It is open Friday and Saturday, 10:15 A.M. until 6:15 P.M., except in the case of rain.
No experience needed, we will show you what to do! Experienced people are also welcome, but please use our equipment and ammo.
The Equipment
- Handheld slingshots: multiple types including with wrist bracing, biodegradable clay ammo
- Traditional bows: 28” draw, 20# and 30#
- Safety googles, arm guards, finger tabs (left and right), and archery gloves
Range Rules
For the safety of yourself and others, please read and follow the Range Rules at all times. The Rangemasters reserve the right to deny anyone participation who poses a danger.
- The Range is only open when a trained Rangemaster is present.
- Always point at the ground if not actively shooting a target. Never point in any direction that might cause a projectile to hit another being.
- Shooting is only permitted from the firing line when told “Range is Hot” by the Rangemaster. Aim at the approved targets/backstop.
- When a “Cease Fire” is called, all shooting must stop. Unload your bow or slingshot.
- Do not cross the firing line until given permission by the Rangemaster.
- Do not enter the Range from any point except the firing line.
- Never pull and release a bowstring without an arrow loaded. This is called a dry fire and can shatter the bow.
- The Rangemaster reserves the right to deny participation to those not following the Range Rules.
Giant Slingshot Tournament
We also host a Giant Slingshot Tournament on Friday the 13th at the nearby Pondside Field (accessed by the amphitheater trail or the pirate bridge). See how much you can knock down to get the highest score!
- Bring a team of 3–4 or be matched with others—you’ll need two people to hold the slingshot and one to aim (you can rotate positions).
- Signups are open at the Community Board and at the Range until 12:15 Friday.
- Practice is 12:30–12:50 at the Pondside Field. Feel free to bring your own launcher and tennis balls to practice, but must use the ones provided during the contest.
Game begins 1:00 P.M. at the Pondside Field! Audiences welcome and encouraged: bring your own situpon, snacks, and cheering things!
